CVG Negotiations Update

July 25, 2006

Ed and Doug joined Leif at the negotiating table to face Paul Saintclaire and Jeff from HR; both sides made introductions.

The Company did a Power Point presentation on the state of business, emphasizing the need to keep costs down,  Leif questioned labor costs as a real issue.  The employer stated that 60 - 65% of the business is heavy truck.

Leif walked through the District 160 structure, noting that we have a good relationship with most employers where we have members.

The Union presented proposal #1, walking through it article by article and explaining why each was proposed.  We presented the company with copies of Trust Agreements for Health and Welfare and Pension and showed the company how they could get a better, less expensive Health and Welfare plan through the Union.

The Company said they would review the proposal and be prepared to discuss it further on August 1st.

Possible future dates also include August 8 & 9 and September 12, 14, 19 and 21.
