About 133 Workers at Commercial Vehicle Group (CVG) are the newest members of the IAM in District 160. With an 85-35 yes vote, they said "GO IAM" on the last weekend of April.
The CVG (formerly Tempest) workers had seen the steady erosion of their benefits including the loss of sick leave, profit sharing and paid holidays after employees narrowly lost an NLRB election for IAM representation in 1997. To add insult to injury, they then found themselves to be the subjects of electronic surveillance. This time workers at the plant said, "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!"
The company does injection molded trim parts for Kenworth, Peterbilt and Freightliner trucks, and the employees now join their sisters and brothers in those factories as proud IAM members.
